The essentials
- Compare order status with the card app’s transaction history first.
- Correct an identifiable cause before retrying.
- Route merchant errors and card-authorization issues to the appropriate support.
What to capture after the first failure
When an online order shows an error, inspect both the order list and card app before pressing pay again. Record the error wording, time and time zone, merchant, amount and currency. Retrying while you cannot tell whether an order exists makes it harder to match transactions with orders afterward.
RedotPay explains that a request blocked by the merchant may leave no app record. If there is no entry, start by asking the seller whether the payment request for that order was transmitted. If an entry exists, distinguish declined, pending and completed states, then save the reference belonging to that specific transaction.
Check causes you can actually correct
Ether.fi’s help lists card details, balance, region or merchant restrictions among decline causes. Apply that to your situation by checking active card status, accurate details, spendable funds and limits first. Do not infer sufficient funds from total asset value or a deposit that is still expected but has not arrived.
In a hypothetical $40 purchase, an apparent $40 balance still calls for a check of other authorizations and actual costs. But if the merchant excludes the card type, sending more funds will not solve the problem. Correct one identified cause, then make a single retry only when the existing order’s status is clear.
- Order: existence and payment status
- Card: active status, details, spendable balance and limits
- Error: distinguish app and merchant messages
- Retry: record the correction and time

Give support one coherent case
Describe which order failed and at what stage, rather than asking only whether the card works in Korea. Supply the last four card digits, time, amount and currency, transaction reference, error message and checks already completed. Full card numbers, security codes and login passwords do not belong in an ordinary support message.
If an essential purchase is urgent, another payment method may be practical, but check for duplicate orders first. After resolution, record the cause and watch the next payment at that merchant. A failure at one store does not explain every Korean purchase, and success elsewhere does not guarantee the next authorization.
