The essentials
- Record final billed currency and amount, beyond the advertised price.
- Budget together for subscriptions renewing in the same week.
- Cancel with the merchant; locking a card is a separate action.
Create the subscription register before billing
Even when a service advertises a dollar price, inspect the final checkout currency and amount. A Korea resident’s subscription register should include the login account, plan, renewal date, billing currency and the card’s last four digits. For a shared household service, identify which account actually has authority to cancel it.
Record a free trial’s end date separately from its later paid amount. Save the terms shown before confirmation and the signup email, checking the final order summary for items outside the advertised dollar price. That order record, rather than a remembered advertisement, becomes the reference when you reconcile the card debit later.
Fund the renewal week
In a hypothetical week, renewals of $12, $18 and $25 total $55 before applicable costs. Review those costs and any other payments already authorized before deciding how much balance is needed. Having enough for one subscription does not establish that a cluster of renewals is covered by the same funds.
RedotPay explains that balance or card status can cause renewal declines and that a decline fee may apply. Set a regular review date for upcoming renewals and the app’s available balance. For a work-critical service, review its failure-notification contact and alternative payment method in the merchant’s settings so a problem is easier to address.
- Review date: before the next renewal
- Billing total: every service renewing that week
- Balance: allow for other authorizations and actual costs
- Contact: an account where failure alerts will be read

Close the loop after cancellation
Cancel through the subscription merchant’s account. RedotPay states that it cannot cancel the subscription for you. Do not treat a card lock, an emptied balance or deleting an app as your cancellation record. Check the service-end date and next-renewal status on the confirmation screen, and save its email or reference number.
After the date when no further renewal should occur, inspect the card history. If a charge is unexpected, compare the original signup terms, cancellation time, merchant confirmation and payment entry together. First check whether it covers a period before cancellation, then contact the merchant. The confirmation record also helps explain the issue to payment support.
