KAST or RedotPay for a Mexican spending week?

Compare a grocery basket, small purchases and one bank payment before choosing a tier.

The essentials

  • Compare grocery and small-purchase costs separately; frequent small MXN payments can change which card fits.
  • A card’s rewards do not establish a bank-transfer option; verify KAST SPEI access and its quote in your account.
  • Start with one modest settled purchase and usable rewards, then keep a separate route for bank-only bills if needed.

Compare your actual purchase mix

A hypothetical Mexico City household spends MXN 1,800 at a supermarket, makes six MXN 90 purchases and pays a repair technician by bank transfer. Build separate rows for these expenses. A percentage reward on groceries cannot establish the best route for the entire week.

For KAST, examine the small non-USD purchase rule and the fee your account shows for MXN spending. For RedotPay, inspect conversion, non-USD charges and virtual or physical issuance separately. Compare the same purchase amounts; a low advertised entry price does not describe ongoing usage costs.

  • Record the final MXN checkout price.
  • Separate issuance, funding and purchase costs.
  • Count only rewards you can use.

Keep a bank payment in its own comparison

If the technician requests a bank payment, a card number does not answer that request. KAST’s current fee schedule lists SPEI deposits and withdrawals, but verify that the relevant flow is enabled for your account. Review recipient details, the MXN amount and the actual quote before sending.

Do not infer an equivalent Mexican bank feature for RedotPay from its card marketing. If a bank route is unavailable in your account, compare a separately verified provider or existing bank balance. Keep transfer fees outside the card-purchase row so you do not double-count them when reviewing the week.

Choose after a modest completed purchase

Use a modest initial balance that satisfies deposit minimums, then save the supermarket receipt and settled app debit. An authorization amount can change before final settlement. Record the actual reward type and usability, not simply a temporary balance or the highest percentage appearing on a comparison page.

The useful result may be one card for ordinary purchases and a verified transfer route for bank-only bills. Recheck the comparison if your spending becomes smaller, more frequent or more international. A tier that fits this household’s current week need not fit a different pattern or guarantee merchant acceptance.

Which option fits your situation?

01

Choose KAST if SPEI is enabled for your account and you need both card spending and MXN bank transfers. Its SPEI-specific fee is 0%; check the exchange quote and received amount separately.

02

Choose RedotPay if you intend to spend existing BTC or ETH and prefer conversion at purchase. KAST may automatically convert supported non-stablecoin deposits; compare the separate MXN payment costs.

03

Keep your peso card if frequent small purchases cost less there. Assuming six MXN90 purchases each settle below US$25, KAST adds US$0.60 in small-transaction fees alone, before FX.
