Travelling from Poland: budget for hotel card holds

The essentials

  • Confirm the deposit in the destination currency
  • Leave room for temporary holds in the prepaid balance
  • Connect the hotel’s release with card settlement

Confirm the deposit in the destination currency

Before travelling from Poland to a euro-area hotel, ask what amount will be preauthorized in addition to the final room price. Confirm acceptance of prepaid or debit cards, physical-card requirements and the guest-name rule. Acceptance for an online reservation does not guarantee acceptance for the deposit at reception.

Divide the PLN travel budget into room payment, temporarily reserved deposit and money for spending during the trip. Use the amount the property confirms rather than inventing a standard deposit percentage. For an USD or other-currency destination, consider the separate conversion between that deposit currency and the EUR card balance.

Leave room for temporary holds in the prepaid balance

Crypto.com EU requires a separate top-up from the EUR Cash Account to the card. Budget the hotel deposit against the Card balance, not all assets visible in the app. Because topped-up funds cannot simply return to the Cash Account, plan the hotel amount alongside a separate contingency payment method.

Its official help says excess hotel or car-rental holds can remain for up to 60 days after use. That does not mean every property takes 60 days or every refund follows that timetable. Allow flexibility if you hoped to reuse the same reserved money at the next hotel immediately after checkout.

Connect the hotel’s release with card settlement

At departure, save the final folio and a reference for any deposit-release instruction. If the app shows both a hold and a completed charge, compare amounts and dates and ask the hotel what each represents. Releasing a temporary authorization differs from issuing a new refund for a settled purchase.

If an item remains unresolved after returning to Poland, provide official app support the booking reference, currency, amount, checkout date and merchant reply. Nexo refunds are recorded in EURx or GBPx according to the initial card currency; translate that result into your PLN travel budget only after checking the actual credit.

  • Confirm card acceptance and the local-currency deposit.
  • Prepare Card availability and separate trip money.
  • Obtain the checkout folio and release reference.
