The essentials
- Virtual issuance, phone enrollment and merchant acceptance are separate.
- Match support to your product and issuing region.
- Phone settings cannot enable an unsupported issuer feature.
For online and in-store spending in Taiwan, check three things separately: virtual-card availability, compatibility with your phone’s wallet, and physical-card delivery to your address. One supported feature does not automatically establish the others.
Apple Pay requires a compatible device and a supported card from a participating issuer. Product and regional conditions still matter. If registration fails, use official issuer support instead of unofficial tools. Mark online and in-store suitability separately in your comparison. For travel, check delivery timing as well as the destination. A delivery-country listing does not establish an applicant’s final eligibility.
Check three different successes
Record card issuance, wallet addition and merchant payment as three separate outcomes. If wallet addition fails, check the device/OS, exact card program and displayed error with the issuer. Do not post a full card number on a comparison site or public forum. After registration, inspect one necessary small purchase’s settlement and mark only that use as verified.
A card number is not a completed phone setup
Treat a newly issued virtual card first as a set of details for supported online checkouts. In-store phone payment needs the actual card to finish enrollment in a supported wallet. A friend adding a card from the same brand does not establish compatibility when the issuing region or product differs.
Apple’s setup guidance includes device, card, region and verification requirements. Before applying, look for instructions matching your product and issuing region, rather than relying only on a broad Apple Pay badge. Completed enrollment still does not establish that every merchant you visit accepts that payment method.

Troubleshoot enrollment in a clear order
If enrollment fails, check the card’s regional support notice first, then device and account verification. Repeatedly changing phone settings will not enable a feature the issuer does not support. Save the exact error text so support can distinguish a product limitation from a verification problem.
If issuance costs come before enrollment, decide whether the online card would still be useful without phone payments. Until an essential function is confirmed, do not give the card comparison credit for that function as though it were already available to you.
